Not Quite Ignored

Oh, school. Why do you have to trap me? Anyway, here is a poem I had to write about an emotional object. I picked a clay cat that I painted myself when I was around... about.... just really young. Oh, and it is better if you read it slowly, and analyze it (because that is the speed of which I write it, and it sounds okay then).

Not Quite Ignored
A poem for school by Jake Swartwout

People around me,
watching me try.
People who love me,
and almost never lie.

now a swish and a splat,
and a messy face painted,
yet all those around me think,
“It should be congratulated!”

I beam at my creation,
never one more proud.
I show all those around me,
only a tad bit loud.

And so I go home that day,
the happiest I can be.
But I always remember,

those who are there for me.
