Book 5 1/4: Trouble in Bugtown
A Fan-Fiction, written by Sterling
Lisa Ladybug burst into the house crying with mud all over her beautiful red shell. Her shocked father jumped from the sofa exclaiming, “My little Lisa has returned home!” Through her tears Lisa cried, “Al has been taken prisoner by a gang of wasps. Please help Daddy!”
Larry quickly made his way to town to get advice from Gary Grasshopper. He spotted a large frightening bug with a long sharp stinger. It was Walter Wasp and the yellow jacket gang. They had created a nest in center park and were threatening passing citizens.
Larry decided this situation was too serious for a simple detective. He snuck past the nest and into the police station. He found officer Pat Pillbug and pleaded for help. Pat looked out the window and said calmly, “Larry, there is no law against building a wasp nest in center park.” Larry looked out the window and fear filled his heart.
Belle Butterfly had bravely approached the Walter and was informing him that bullying was not allowed in Bugtown. Walter laughed as a couple of wasps grabbed Bell’s wings and dragged her to the wasp nest. Walter looked at Bell and said, “You better mind your own business.” He snapped one of her legs like a twig and the wasps kicked her to the ground.
“Did you see that?”, Larry exclaimed, as Belle’s sister tried to help her up. Officer Pillbug had rolled into his office and locked the door. Outside, the wasps were laughing and getting more aggressive. They threatened bugs, they threw mud at buildings, they tore up center park while brandishing sharp stingers.
Larry snuck out the back down and over to city hall. Many bugs had gathered to get help from Mayor Molly Moth. “You must do something!”, cried Wendy Worm. Larry told the crowd, “Lisa has been attacked and Al taken captive by these wasps.” Molly gasped in shock as she remembered the many sand pictures Al had drawn for her.
The wasps had gone too far and Molly knew something must be done. Molly Moth rallied the bugs by saying, “We’ll confront these wasps together! Many bugs are strong than one!” The bugs started to cheer and stormed out of city hall together.
Walter wasp was not impressed by the small group of bugs. Molly bravely confronted Walter saying, “As mayor of Bugtown, I must ask you leave immediately!” Walter flew up into the air and quickly began buzzing around the bugs. Soon all the wasps were flying around hitting the bugs with their wings and stingers. Molly and the citizens quickly fled back to town hall.
Larry decided there was only one bug who could save them from the wasps. Larry raced to Sam the Spider’s web. Larry told Sam the horrible story of the wasps and Sam agreed to help. That night, Sam waited until all the wasps were sleeping, he snuck over to center park and found two large trees and began working on his plan.
The next morning, Sam woke up the wasps by yelling, “You need to leave Bugtown or else!”. Some of the town bugs heard Sam’s shout and were coming to the park to see what was was happening. Walter rubbed his eyes and looked out of his nest. Sam was the biggest bug Walter had ever seen.
Walter decided to get the whole gang to teach Sam a lesson in front of everyone. He rallied his yellow jacket gang in a huge buzzing swarm. The wasps turned their stingers toward Sam and rocketed forward. Unafraid of the wasp attack, Sam stood like a statue. “He’ll be killed!!”, cried out Flynn Fly.
Just as the wasps were about to pierce Sam, they were stopped by an unseen force. They tumbled together in ball of legs, wings, and stingers. “Ingenius!”, exclaimed Gary Grasshopper, “He caught them in an invisible web strung across the trees.” Sam worked quickly to add more webbing to the ball of wasps leaving them completely helpless.
The entire town of bugs cheered for Sam. Officer Pillbug rolled the wasps to jail, Larry shook all of Sam’s hands, and the Mayor gave Sam a “Hero of Bugtown” medal. Lisa cried out for Al and heard a small “help” coming from inside the wasp nest. All of the bugs raced to the sound.
As the town worked to free Al from the wasp nest, Sam quietly looked about. He noticed Betsy Beatle had left the door open to the town bank. Sam snuck inside the bank and found the safe unlocked. He took all the money and jewels and made his way back to his web admiring his “Hero of Bugtown” medal. What a wonderful day!
