Bug Adventures: Book 10 7/15: A Fan-Fiction: Christmas Special

This book was written by my amazing sister, who normally only illustrates. And no, it totally isn't copying any major Christmas story.

Book 10 7/15:
Dr. Donovan Dung Beetle was a Christmas grinchbug. He hadn’t drank any bugnog, sang any carols, or wished a single bug happy holidays. But worst of all, he was working on Christmas!
The day before Christmas Donovan’s family gathered in the living room to watch a Christmas special. “Bah!” grumbled Donovan, “I’ve seen that stupid show a hundred times! I’m going upstairs.”
Donovan went upstairs and crawled into bed, visions of Christmas being over dancing in his head. But just before he fell asleep he could have swore the room got ten degrees colder….
He opened his eyes the next morning to find he was no longer in his bed. He was laying on the ground at a random school house. And standing next to him was a ghost!
“What’s going on here?!?” Donovan screamed. The ghost replied, “I am the ghost of Christmas past, here to show you the error of your Christmas hating ways. My brothers and I hope to get you to embrace the joy and love that is Christmas.”
“We are standing at your old school house. Look inside and you may see your past self, before the magic of the holidays left your life.” Donovan peered inside and he saw himself as a young happy pupa.
Donovan’s eye’s widened with shock, and he took a deep breath. The ghost of Christmas past smiled smugly. The doctor had finally seen the light! Then Donovan shouted, “The Butterflies win the super bowl! The winning lottery numbers are 2-7-9-1-8!”
“No no no!”, yelled the ghost. “You can’t do that! You’re supposed to see how much better things were back then!” “Well, “ responded the doctor, “things were good but they would have been better if I was rich.”
“In fact, if I was rich,” continued Donovan, “ I wouldn’t have to work and I could celebrate Christmas everyday!” He was quite proud of his logic.  “I...what? No!” said the ghost. “You can’t talk to your past self! This isn’t working. I guess I’ll just send you on to the next ghost.”
Donovan blinked and when he opened his eyes there was a new ghost standing in front of him. “Sup. I’m the ghost of Christmas present. I’m gonna show you everything you’ll miss out on on Christmas.”
They flew to Donovan’s house. Inside his family was laughing and eating dinner without him. “Soooooo….totes pathetic, amiright?” laughed the ghost. But Donovan didn’t care. He hated mushrooms while his family loved them. This was their chance to eat it without making him feel left out. The only part he missed was their company, but now that he was here watching, he had it all.
He wiped a tear from his eye, then found he was now standing in a dark alley. The ghost of Christmas future stood before him. “Let’s get this over with.” said the ghost. “Why do I always end up with the  most depressing job? Anyway, you get murdered in this dark alley.”
“WHAT?!?” hollered Donovan. “Why? How? Can I stop this?” The ghost just shrugged. “I dunno. I don’t even really understand what this has to do with Christmas. Off you go!”
Donovan sat up in bed screaming. His family all ran in and asked what was wrong. Donovan quickly asked what day it was. It was Christmas! It wasn’t too late! Donovan hugged his family and vowed to stay home and never again be such a Christmas grinch!

Epilog: Logan rushed into the hospital, his girlfriend Linda dying in his hands. He looked for Dr. Dung-Beetle, but it was Christmas so he had stayed home. “Nooooooooo!” Logan shouted, but it was too late; without proper medical attention, Linda was dead.
